About Chris May

I am a teaching and performing guitarist, singer-songwriter, and sound engineer. Originally from Arizona, I moved to Seattle in 2006 where I received my Associate’s Degree in Audio engineering at Shoreline Community College. My biggest musical influences include Jeff Buckley, Jimi Hendrix, Nick Drake, and Lenny Breau.

I fell in love with sharing and teaching music as a young adult. My lessons are for everyone. I enjoy teaching children, teens, adults and older adults, and am equipped to teach people of all skill levels, including those who have never held a guitar, to those who play professionally. I can help you perfect your chops or get past your music theory roadblock, and I am committed to your continued success. I believe that anyone can learn a new instrument. My lessons are designed around each student's current fluency level of their instrument. Music is a language, and I create personalized lessons for each student, understanding that everyone learns in different ways, while laying the foundation with core music building-blocks. I like to keep lessons fun and engaging by using memory games, repetition and positive reinforcement for milestones and achievements.

When not in the music studio, I can be found hanging out with my family or in the kitchen making cookies for everyone.
